Grants of up to $3,000 to California nonprofit organizations and public schools in eligible locations for projects to benefit the local community. Program focus areas include sustainability, food security and education, cooperatives, and community development. Eligible applicants are located in Humboldt County.

Through collaborative grant making the Fund seeks to strengthen the community by emphasizing projects and activities that promote democratic cooperative principles, community development, and food security

All projects must address at least one of the following program areas:

  • Sustainability – Recycling, alternative transportation, etc.
  • Community Development – Healthcare, social services, diversity, equity & inclusion, etc.
  • Food Security & Education – Sustainable agriculture, local food economy, food nutrition and education, etc.
  • Cooperatives – Co-op organizations, co-op development, co-op education, etc.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant sizes range from $500-$3,000.

Term of Contract:

Grants are expected to be used for their stated purpose within one year of distribution.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Cooperative Community Fund (CCF) grant requirements:
- Must be a nonprofit tax-exempt organization (or fiscally sponsored by one) and/or public school located in Humboldt County.
- Are nonpartisan and do not advocate a particular religion.
- Organization is not a 2021 Seeds for Change Round Up recipient

Pre-Application Information:

All applications must be received by May 5, 2021. Postmark dates do not count as receipt dates for this process.

Applicants will be notified in June/July 2021 and checks will be distributed soon after.
