Grants of up to $2,500 to California childcare centers, schools, teachers, libraries, and nonprofit literacy organizations in eligible areas for programs that promote reading at grade level. Funding may be used to purchase audio books, teacher resources, books, and workbooks directly from the Scholastic Store or to pay for other literacy program materials and costs as needed and outlined in a proposal. Support is given to projects operating in Long Beach, California.

Applications will be judged by the Long Beach Rotary Literacy Committee and approved by the Long Beach Rotary Charitable Foundation based on creativity, uniqueness and emphasis on preparing students to be ready to read at grade level by age 9.

Grant recipients who are processing Scholastic orders must do so with the Rotary Club of Long Beach by May 1, 2020.

Recipients of Long Beach Rotary Nonprofit Literacy Program grants may be invited to present their project at a Rotary Club of Long Beach luncheon.
