Grants to California nonprofit arts and culture organizations that produce public events in eligible regions. Funding is intended to provide organizational support to organizations that attract tourism to the area by promoting the cultural identity of diverse populations through festivals and parades. Funds must benefit qualifying nonprofits in San Francisco.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants range from $10,000 to $450,000 based on GFTA’s funding structure, current budget availability, and funding category.

Term of Contract:

A grant funded pursuant to these guidelines will have a grant term of 12 months for the period July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

In order to qualify for consideration of funding, an applicant in this category must:
- Possess valid 501(c)(3) public charity designation from the IRS, or have a valid fiscal sponsor that possess 501(c)(3) public charity designation from the IRS;
- Not be a governmental entity;
- Maintain a corporate address and have presented a season or series of public performances or display of art works in the City and County of San Francisco for at least three consecutive fiscal years at the time of application;
- Professionally produce a San Francisco parade or festival for at least three years;
- Have an arts component to the parade or festival:
-Produce a parade or festival that broadly celebrates and preserves the cultural identity and/ or traditional activity related to the City's diverse communities;
- Be in compliance with Grants for the Arts (GFTA), other City Departments and programs, and GFTA fiduciary partners and grantees;
- Demonstrate certain administrative and fiscal qualities, as evidenced by:
a. Receiving non-GFTA sources of funding
b. Maintaining insurance policies required by the City Risk Manager
c. Not having one single source of income comprise 50% or more of operating budget
