Grant Description
Grants of up to $5,000 to California nonprofit organizations and high schools for programs that benefit youth and families in eligible regions. Funding is intended to support programs that focus on leadership development, advocacy, and empowerment of youth. Funded programs must benefit residents of Mendocino County.

The goal of the Haigh-Scatena Youth Leadership, Empowerment & Advocacy Fund is to provide grants to nonprofit organizations and high schools interested in improving the lives of youth and families. The project must:

  • Promote students “initiating, learning and doing” to solve a problem.
  • Demonstrate the betterment of the community as a whole.
  • Exhibit additional funds, resources, and volunteer support associated with it.

The Youth Fund is comprised of several funds including the Haigh-Scatena Youth Leadership, Empowerment & Advocacy Fund. This grant opportunity is open to organizations and programs supporting youth to grow and meet their full potential and successfully contribute to their community after high school. Funding priorities include, but are not limited to: Workforce and Leadership Development, Service Learning Projects, and Health and Well-Being for Youth. For details on each of the above priorities, see p. 11 of the Field of Interest Guidelines.
