Request a Grant Writer

Grants to USA, Canada, and International individuals for research that will generate a more in-depth understanding of Prader-Willi Syndrome. Applicants are required to submit an LOI prior to a full grant application. Consideration will be given to research that facilitates treatments to alleviate the symptoms associated with PWS.

The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research seeks to stimulate research that will improve the lives of individuals with PWS in the near term; thus, the Foundation is particularly supportive of research to develop and evaluate new therapeutic approaches and interventions for PWS. The Foundation is also interested in supporting innovative research that will lead to significant advances in the understanding of this disorder.

All scientifically meritorious research related to PWS will be considered, but areas of particular interest include:

  • Genotype to phenotype: understanding PWS genetics / how loss of PWS-critical region genes leads to the phenotype
  • Neurobiology of hunger/feeding behavior in PWS
  • Neurobiology of cognitive deficits, maladaptive behavior and mental illness in PWS
  • Clinical care research: evaluation of existing drugs and interventions to improve health and quality of life in PWS
  • Therapeutics development for PWS- Genetic therapies; novel pharmaceuticals; drug repurposing for PWS

For a full description of FPWR's funding priorities, see https://www.fpwr.org/research-priorities

FPWR will also consider supporting the development of unique in vitro and in vivo resources and models, or bioinformatic capabilities to be shared with the PWS research community.
