Grants of up to $5,000 to California nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, and school districts in eligible locations for projects that benefit the community. Funding is intended to support services that assist families and children, and align with the Foundation's mission of supporting and improving the early health, development, and learning of children from the prenatal stage through five years of age. Eligible applicants serve Shasta County.

Grant requests must address one of F5S's Strategic Plan Goals and at least one related Objective:

  • Goal 1: Resilience is built and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are reduced and prevented in the Shasta County 0-5 population
  • Goal 2: All children 0-3 in Shasta County have healthy beginnings and optimal development
  • Goal 3: All children will be prepared for and enter school ready to learn.

Grant awards will range from $1,500 to $5,000.

Term of Contract:

3-month contract period (February 2021-June 2021)

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants for Goal-Specific Project Grant funds must work with children 0-to-5, pregnant women, their families, or providers working on behalf of young children. Current F5S grantees are encouraged to apply.

F5S funds cannot be used to supplant or take the place of existing funding.

A specific entity cannot receive more than one Goal-Specific Project Grant in a fiscal year.

Pre-Application Information:

The Spring 2021 grant cycle closes on March 10th.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the deadline or until funds are depleted, whichever comes first.

Quality Counts North State (QCNS) Participants should review their request with their Mentor Coach to verify that the request is not eligible for QCNS funding. QCNS Mentor Coaches must sign the application prior to submission to verify this step.
