Grants to California nonprofit organizations serving the Jewish community in eligible locations for staff support and capacity building during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Applicants must attend a webinar prior to receiving an application. Eligible organizations must be located within Los Angeles County or parts of Ventura County, not including Long Beach or the San Gabriel Valley.

Nonprofits are in need of support to design, develop, or adapt creative organizational initiatives as a response to COVID-19 in one of the following areas:

  • Adaptation of programs and delivery models
  • Professional/leadership development and wellness 
  • Exploration of partnerships and collaborations

Estimated Size of Grant:

Applicants may apply for a grant ranging from $50,000 to $200,000 based on the organization’s annual operating budget for FY 2020 and should also take into account the scale and scope of the program (see Grant Request Specifications in Supporting Documents below).

Term of Contract:

Applicants may apply for a one- to two-year grant.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Your organization is eligible to apply if it meets the following criteria:

- Local 501c3 nonprofits or fiscally sponsored organizations, operating for at least three years, predominantly serving the Jewish community.
- National 501c3 nonprofits or fiscally sponsored organizations, predominantly serving the Jewish community, with existing Jewish community programming in Los Angeles (must have been operating in Los Angeles prior to the pandemic).
- Organization must be located within Los Angeles County and parts of Ventura County, not including Long Beach or the San Gabriel Valley. Please contact the Foundation with any questions regarding geographic location.

Institutions with budgets of under $250,000 are not eligible to apply for a grant.

Grants not made to:

- Organizations with operating budgets less than $250,000
- Private foundations and private non-operating foundations
- Endowment programs
- Programs that do not serve a predominantly Jewish population
- Synagogues
- Schools (through high school)

Grants not made for:

- Programs based on travel
- Building/renovation projects
- Research programs
- Programs not proposed for implementation in L.A.
- Films & documentaries

Steps to attend the Webinar:

1. Review evaluation and eligibility criteria above to determine if your synagogue is eligible to apply.
2. Complete the Workshop Registration Form:

The Grantseekers’ Webinar will be an opportunity to:
- Learn about the application process;
- Receive tips for submitting a strong proposal;
- Get all of your questions answered!

Please note: You will receive the application after attending the webinar.

Pre-Application Information:

The application will be due on May 7, 2021 by 3:00 PM PST.

You must submit a registration form and attend the webinar in order to receive an application.

The Reimagine Grants selection process spans a five-month period. Awards will be announced in late August or September.
