Grant Description
Grants of up to $5,000 to California nonprofit organizations, government entities, and educational institutions in eligible regions to beautify their establishments during a one-day volunteer-supported event. Grants are intended for projects that the entire community can appreciate. Organizations must be located in the Long Beach community.

The Long Beach Community Foundation’s mission is to initiate positive change for Long Beach through charitable giving, stewardship, and strategic grantmaking.

National Philanthropy Day is an initiative that honors charitable work across the country and is celebrated in a variety of ways. To honor this philanthropic event, LBCF has completed a beautification project for a local nonprofit property or building for the last five years. These events give LBCF staff and board members the opportunity to be out In the community, literally roll up their sleeves, and make a meaningful and personal impact with a Long Beach nonprofit.

The following types of projects will be considered:

  • Physical improvement projects that can be completed with a budget under $5,000.
  • Projects that provide volunteers with a one-day makeover project that has a significant “before and after” effect.
  • Projects that will utilize or greatly benefit from volunteer manpower generated by many untrained volunteers.
  • Projects that require a skilled labor force or a licensed contractor will be considered, but the ideal projects are largely cosmetic to utilize volunteers.
  • External façade improvements will be given preference so that the entire community can appreciate and benefit from the make-over.
