Eligible nominees are those who exhibit the traits of advocacy, love, and guidance while advancing the cause of blind people in the spirit and philosophy of the National Federation of the Blind. In addition to the cash prize, applicants will receive an inscribed plaque.

Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete. Funding is intended for community coalitions addressing youth substance use that have not yet previously received a DFC grant. The purpose of the funding program is to mobilize community leaders in identifying and responding to the drug problems unique to their community and changing local community environmental conditions tied to substance use.

Funding is intended for initiatives that improve the quality of life for community members who have experienced systemic racism or marginalization.
