Grants of up to $10,000 and in-kind support to California nonprofit and for-profit organizations in eligible locations for environmental projects related to packaging waste. Funding is intended to replace limited-use packaging utilized in distribution, transportation, and manufacturing with durable alternatives, designed for many years of use. Projects must reduce transport packaging waste generated in Alameda County OR reduce packaging used to transport materials/products originating outside of Alameda County that are shipped with an end destination in Alameda County.
Typical examples are the replacement of cardboard boxes with hand-held plastic totes or disposable plastic film used to secure loads onto pallets with reusable pallet wraps.
For applicants that have a grant project idea but need help, a technical assistance representative can provide equipment and vendor information, cost-benefit analysis, and help with return logistics planning. This support is available both before grant applications are submitted, as well as during the implementation of awarded grant projects.
