Grants of up to $1,500 to California nonprofit organizations in eligible counties for programs that promote animal welfare. Funding is intended to support services provided by veterinarians, veterinary students, and nonprofits that help to enhance the welfare of domestic and wild animals. Eligible applicants serve Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado, and Placer counties.

The SVVMA Fund will accept proposals for materials and supplies, including:

  • Pet food
  • Pet supplies
  • Wildlife food and supplies
  • Incubators
  • Farriers
  • Blankets.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The maximum amount grantees may apply for is up to $1,500.

Term of Contract:

Funding is for projects taking place during the 2021-22 year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for consideration, submissions must meet the following criteria:
- Service area must be within the geographical area covered by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation: Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado, and Placer counties.
- Maintain tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or be fiscally-sponsored by an organization that meets this requirement.

The SVVMA Fund will not accept proposals for:
- Salaries for organizations
- Annual fund campaigns, fundraising events
- Capital campaigns
- Gifts to endowments
- Deficit funding
- Direct assistance to individuals
- Conferences.

Additionally, grants may not be used for:
- Political advocacy
- Legislative policy efforts, or to promote particular religious and/or spiritual beliefs.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline to submit applications is Friday, April 9, 2021, by 5:00 PM PST.

Awards will be announced at the end of April.
