Grants of up to $7,500 to California nonprofit organizations in eligible regions for Coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery activities. The purpose of the program is to help organizations mitigate the negative economic consequences of the global health crisis. Eligible applicants are those that serve residents of Mendocino County.

Funding Priorities:

Consideration is given to organizations who meet the following criteria:

  • Have a demonstrated reduction in funding and/or increased demand for services due to impacts from COVID-19; and
  • Have a plan for adapting or maintaining services now or in the future including adherence to applicable county or state guidance.

Criteria - Grants will be made to eligible Mendocino County non-profit organizations in the following three areas:

  • Adaptation grants will assist organizations to adapt new technology or pivot programs to adjust to new demands. This could include, but is not limited to, equipment, technology, or software to change program delivery methods; improvements in physical plants to accommodate social distancing requirements; pilot projects that pioneer new methods or programs in response to current circumstances; training for staff in utilizing new technologies or protocols; or personal protective equipment for staff or clients.
  • Operations grants will assist organizations with fixed operational costs impacted by COVID-19 related facility closures.
  • Preservation grants will assist organizations of social, cultural, or historical importance to preserve their legacy into the future. Grants could include, but are not limited to, archiving records or organizational history; consultants to support key board or staff transitions; supporting new methods of volunteer recruitment; or, assistance for merging or closing organizations to ensure that the legacy of the work is maintained.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants will be made to eligible Mendocino County non-profit organizations.

Applicants may not use grants for:
• Political contributions or to support political campaigns or lobbying;
• Influencing the outcome of or participate in any public election or to carry on, directly or indirectly, any voter registration drive;
• Purposes other than those which are religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational within the meaning of Section 170 (c)(2)(B) of the Internal Revenue Code; and
• Purposes other than those stated in the grant award.

Pre-Application Information:

The grant proposal submission deadline is 5:00 p.m. on September 15th, 2021.

If an applicant would like a staff review, application drafts must be available by September 1st.

Applicants whose proposals are not competitive after the initial round of review will be notified by October 15, 2021.

Grants recipients will be notified of award by November 15, 2021.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply at least five days in advance of the deadline to resolve any technical difficulties or unforeseen internet connectivity issues.

If you received a COVID-19 Non-Profit Relief grant previously, your organization is still eligible to apply to this round of funding, provided you complete an interim report prior to the deadline.
