Grant Description
In-kind support to California nonprofit organizations, public agencies, businesses, and individuals for local beautification and community improvement projects in eligible regions. Successful applicants will receive supplies to complete the project. Eligible projects are those that benefit the residents of Richmond.
Eligible Projects
Clean-up and beautification projects that engage community volunteers.
Examples of projects include but are not limited to: community clean-ups (i.e. trash pickup, weed abatement, and/or pruning); ongoing maintenance, revitalization, or expansion of a community garden; creation of a new community garden; painting projects; ongoing maintenance, revitalization, or expansion of Little Free Libraries; and installation of new Little Free Libraries.
Eligible Supplies
Supplies must be able to be purchased online or locally. Examples include, but are not limited to:
Trash bags
Plants
Gardening and landscaping supplies, such as weed fabric, lumber, hardware, soil
Painting supplies such as paint, primer, sealer, paint brushes and rollers, tarp, paint cups and trays, and buckets
Pre-packaged drinks, snacks, and refreshments for volunteers
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as face masks, gloves, safety glasses, and sanitizer

Eligible Applicant Types:
- Individual
- 501(c)3 Organization
- Business
- Public Agency
Eligible applicants must not currently be in contract for a Love Your Block Mini-Grant.
Ineligible
Please note, gift cards, stipends, and professional services are not considered supplies and are not eligible under this program.
Projects that do not include clean-up and beautification or do not engage volunteers will not be considered.
Ineligible Project Areas
- Unincorporated areas
- Areas that encroach on property of other public agencies, including but not limited to CalTrans, BART, and railway. Exceptions can be made if there is an existing agreement between applicant and the agency.
Pre-Application Information
Sponsorship applications for FY2022-2023 will be accepted until May 31, 2023.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications should be submitted at least 30 days in advance of the start date of the project.

Sponsorships are limited to $1,000 of supplies per applicant or organization per fiscal year.
Term of Contract
Each fiscal year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. applications for FY2022-2023 will be accepted for projects or events that will be completed on or before June 30, 2023.
